1.3.4 Problems

1. You’re trying to crack a four digit lock, and you overheard a conversation where you heard the first three numbers: 3 6 5, but the last digit sounded like ”fine”. Well that’s got to be either a 5, or a 9. Hmm, which one? Well you don’t know, it could be either with equal probability. What’s the probability you’ll crack the lock on the first try?

2. Same as the first question, but now you hear something like ”well promise not to tell anyone, the combination is hiss, 2, hiss, fine”. Fine, that means a five or a nine. Hiss could be any digit with equal probability.
